Approximately 1.5 million Greek refugee inhabitants from Turkey were forced to leave their ancestral lands in Asia Minor, Pontus, Eastern Thrace, and Cappadocia. A series of events compelled the Greeks to abandon their homelands and homes, uproot themselves, and find A NEW HOMELAND. All these refugees found themselves as protagonists in an unprecedented event in international chronicles known as “the largest population movement in history.”

The goals of the documentary are to highlight the dramatic history of the resettlement of these populations, the difficulties they faced during the relocation and “reception” by Greek authorities and residents of the areas. We explore, step by step, the geographical points in Greece that were chosen to accommodate them and discover the peculiarities of each local refugee community.
