Hellenic Wings (Pilot Episode)

About the Project
This 20-minute film, “Hellenic Wings,” serves as a compelling pilot episode for a proposed 12-part documentary series. It offers a comprehensive and meticulously researched exploration into the full history of the Hellenic Air Force from its inception.
The pilot highlights the in-depth investigation and detailed portrayal of pivotal aerial operations and periods, utilizing a wealth of rare archival material. Notably, this production marks the first time in a Greek production that archival video footage has undergone extensive colorization and restoration. We filmed at war museums, airfields, bases, and historically significant abandoned sites of air operations. The project brings together diverse perspectives, featuring interviews with University Professors, Specialized Military Aviation Researchers, Professors from the Hellenic Air Force Academy, contemporary aviators, authors, relatives of aviators, and surviving pilots.
The documentary draws upon a rich collection of resources, including rare archival video footage, previously unpublished photographs, original documents and artifacts (like pilot logbooks), exhibits from war museums and historical aircraft, and footage of rare, active aircraft, as well as significant airfields and bases. This pilot aims to demonstrate the potential for a full series that will provide the most complete and documented record of the Hellenic Air Force’s legacy.
